KINETOSCOPE
This site specific installation draws a connection between Industry City (NYC) and the moving image. A cardboard Kinetoscope presents a 3D video via Google cardboard. This work explores the relationship between technology, history and viewing experience.
Industry City, NY also known as the Bush Terminal was named after its founder Irving T. Bush which had exclusive rights to market Thomas Edison's Kinetoscope overseas. The kinetoscope was the earliest motion picture device. Unlike later movie projectors, kinetoscopes could show a moving image to only one person at a time in a similar way to new emerging technologies of our days i.e VR.
